Commonwealth Games gold medallist Asif Hossain was scheduled to leave for Italy last night to take part in the ISSF Shooting World Cup to be held in Milan from May 21.
After completing in the World Cup competition, Asif will fly to the German city of Wesbaden to receive high-profile training at the city's Olympic Training Centre for a month in a bid to earn a quota place in the 2012 London Olympics, said a statement of the National Shooting Federation.
The training will begin on May 24. Atikur Rahman will accompany Asif for one week in Germany as a trainer.
Asif won gold in the Commonwealth Games' 10m air rifle event in Manchester in 2002.
